Essential Futurama Episodes Futurama is one of my favourite shows. This is a list of episodes I consider “Essential Viewing”. S01E01 Space Pilot 3000. Literally the pilot episode! Sets everything up, is funny and interesting in its own right. S04E16 Three Hundred Big Boys. The payoff at the end of the episode is so good. Big laughs all the way through. S03E04 The Luck of the Fryrish. Futurama is infamous for deeply tragic, emotional episodes. For me, this is the top one. Many people cite “Jurassic Bark” as the most devastating but I never felt that way because I had a brother and not a dog, so this episode about brotherhood hit harder. Now I have a brother and a dog so I might feel different. S04E07 Jurassic Bark. If you love dogs, the ending of this episode will make you bawl. No dogs are harmed! This is an episode about friendship. S04E21 Futurestock. To me, the most quotable episode. Full of gems. “I’m worried about blank!” S04E18 The Devil’s Hands are Idle Playthings. If you believe that the human body is a mere vessel that betrays an indescribable beauty within, this episode’ll make you think. S04E12 The Sting. If you believe in love’s power to transcend the boundaries between people, this might make you bawl. S03E02 Parasites Lost. This actually has some similar themes to The Devil’s Hands are Idle Playthings now that I think about it, but this one has more laughing and less weeping. S03E20 Godfellas. Possibly the Futurama-est episode ever. Combines philosophy, science fiction, religion, morality, and crass humour in that special Futurama way.
