Rest
The less rested you are the more rest you need. The less time you have the more intentional you have to be.
I. Eliminate Unrest
Turn away from what caused the need to rest as completely as possible.
- stop working if you’re tired of work
- travel away from the city you’re sick of
- cut out activities that drain
II. Be Idle
Create unfilled time, allow room for rest.
- take a long time to do anything
- attempt to do nothing at all
- choose slower methods of transportation
- do things inefficiently
- delay or outsource unpleasant tasks
- choose an immobile activity
III. Fill The Void
Fill time with neutral activities.
- read and re-read
- go for walks
- listen to music
- watch movies and TV
- have a treat
IV. Undo the Damage
Reverse the unrest caused by stress.
- sleep if underslept
- eat if underfed
- focus if distracted
- connect if disconnected
- relax if tense
V. Integrate Rest
Bring rest into day-to-day life.
- recognize and try to reduce activities that create chronic and acute stress
- add stress-reducing activities into day-to-day life
