I never want to impose on anyone, or stick out: I don’t want to take up figurative space, even when this is bad for me at no benefit for others. For sure this is because I’m very very tall and I take up a lot of physical space. Anyway, this is a list of ways to “take up space” that I think about sometimes, but it also works in reverse for anyone who wants to take up less space for whatever reason.

- stand up straight
- cheer, jeer, laugh
- stretch out
- put your belongings next to you
- offer and accept favours
- take as much time as you need
- play music
- sit down
- make a purchase
- partake in an offer of food
- vote
- attend in person
- come early or stay late
- go first
- come more often
- pay a professional to do it for you
- raise your hand to answer
- volunteer to do it
- make use of a resource
- follow-up
